In a bid to make India more business friendly and improve ranking in the World Bank’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ index from the current 142nd out of 189 countries to at least 50th, the government on Thursday announced the launch of 11 central government services on the government-to-business (G2B) portal called ‘eBiz’.
In the next few years, over 200 services related to investors and businesses will be rolled-out across the country, an official statement said.

The newly launched services are required for starting a business in the country. These include four from the corporate affairs ministry (name availability, director identification number, certificate of incorporation and commencement of business), two from CBDT (issue of PAN and of tax deduction account number), two from RBI (advanced foreign remittance and foreign collaboration general permission route) one each from EPFO (employer registration), Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (issue of explosive license) and DGFT (importer exporter code licence).
At present, a business-user avails these services either from the portal of the respective ministry/department or by physical submission of forms. With the integration of these services on eBiz portal, he/she can avail all these services 24/7 online end-to-end, which is, online submission of forms, attachments, payments, tracking of status and also obtain the licence/permit from the eBiz portal. Ebiz is conceptualized with support from National Institute of Smart Government as the consulting partner and developed by Infosys on the PPP model for 10 years.
